Hall Effect and Haptics: Touch and Feel

Instructors: Karmisha Reeb and Kate Hartman

Date: Wednesday, October 5th from 9 am-12 pm

In this workshop, we will build wearable and textile prototypes that sense and respond to a light touch. Special focus will be placed on the location of sensors and actuators; fabrication and integration of the circuit; and developing a satisfying sensor/actuator relationship that maps well to physical social interactions.

Materials Provided:

  • Hall Effect Sensors

  • Resistors

  • Vibrating Motor

  • Magnets

  • Assorted jumper wire, alligator clips, resistors, diodes, etc.

Suggested/Optional:

  • Arduino (UNO/Rev3) and USB Cable

  • Breadboard
